 Questo post è dedicato a Loretta ,  del blog  Un Roseto in via Cerreto , doveva essere un libro per bambini, ma per ora rimando e le propongo un'altra cosa . Uno dei primi libri di fantascienza che ho letto è stato "La nuvola nera " di Fred Hoyle. Arrivò qualche anno dopo le fiabe , potevo avere 11 o 12 anni. Ovviamente me lo diede il mio babbo,che faceva per me delle scelte di lettura almeno originali, che mi hanno fatto sentire speciale ,  ma prima me lo raccontò un pò, e mi prese la curiosità di leggerlo . Era un libro per adulti,  se una storia gli piaceva me la raccontava  , anche se dentro c'erano cose molto grandi per la testa di una bambina, per una mente che cresce .  La fantascienza affronta cose tipo l'eternità , la fine del tempo,  se l'universo è finito o infinito, e oltre i suoi limiti cosa c'è, il futuro con i suoi possibili sviluppi, la sovrappopolazione del pianeta , i viaggi in space, the creation of artificial intelligence, the relationship between robots and humans, the death of the Sun, the colonization of other planets, the comparison with other species.

Fred Hoyle mi piaceva molto perchè con le sue teorie eliminava alcune mie inquietudini sulla sorte dell'universo e di noi che  ci viviamo . Egli scrisse almeno due romanzi che ho letto . "A come Andromeda " é più conosciuto in Italia , perchè ne ricavarono una fiction  . "La nuvola nera" sarebbe stato più difficile rappresentarlo . Ve lo racconto un pò per vedere se incuriosisco anche voi , credo però che sia quasi impossibile trovare il libro . Lo è ormai anche per me , dopo la morte della mia mamma io non ho definitivamente più accesso, se non voglio andare per vie legali , neanche ai libri del mio babbo. Must be why I came to mind. Nel libro c'è anche una piccola storia d'amore , che io ricordo molto poco. Ad un certo punto ci si accorge che la nube di gas è  molto di più di quel che sembra, è un  immenso essere vivente .  Una creatura degli spazi interstellari che si è avvicinata al Sole per fare il pieno di energia , per mangiare, in sostanza . Gli scienziati trovano il modo di comunicare con essa , in un linguaggio matematico , del tipo di quello che già si usava per i primi computer , a base di due soli elementi : 1 e 0 . Inizia un lungo scambio con la nuvola , che racconta di sè e si stupisce della presenza di vita intelligente sul terzo pianeta di quel sistema solare , cosa che non avrebbe mai sospettato , vista l'enorme differenza fra essa e gli uomini . "La nuvola nera" mi sembrò  una storia appassionante, written with skill by a brilliant scholar who had a role in the history of modern astronomy.
